Target Run

So, I didn't use to love Target. It seemed to not be well stocked and the deals weren't that great. I've changed my thinking! They have this great deal where you get a gift card with a qualifying purchase. They have a promo on Glade Holiday scents and I have coupons for the scented oil tins. So, here's what I did today.

PROMO: Buy 5 Holiday Scented Oil tins, refills, wall units or refills, or select candles, Receive a $5 Target Gift Card.

Bought 5 Scented Oil Tins, $2.50 each
Bought 5 Scented Oil Refills, $2.50 each
Subtotal = $25.00

-5 $1.50/1 MC (inside tins of previous purchases), down to $17.50
-5 BOGO MC here or (blinkies @ FredMeyer, Albertsons), down to $5.50
-1 $5 Target Gift Card, from previouse purchase, down to $.50
=$.90, with tax
Received 2 $5 Target Gift Cards

I repeated this deal 2 times. Now I had 4 Target Gift Cards. I'll save one to "roll" with another Target Gift Card Deal.

To make the above deal even better, Glade has a rebate available for $5 back wyb 3 items. The rebate can be submitted 3 times per household. So all three transactions above can be submitted to receive a total of $15 back.

They have Wii games on sale, buy 2 get 1 free. They are priced $14.99 - $49.99. Target has coupons available online or at the registry kiosk for $10/2. (When you follow this link for the coupon, look on page 5.) So, I bought 6 games @ $14.99 each, received 2 of the games free, used 3 $10/2 Target Coupons, used 3 $5 Target Gift Cards from previous 3 transactions, and paid just $15, plus tax, for 6 Wii Games.

Take into account the $15 Glade rebate, and I received all of the above for FREE!

Even if you don't do the Glade deal, the Wii games end up being 6/$30. That's just $5 each, plus tax. Definitely a good deal for Christmas.

Long Time...

It's been way too long. Life has been crazy busy. I've been couponing, but not blogging. I vow to be better. Check back soon because I'll be posting what I'm doing. Then you can view the deals, organize your coupons, and partake with me.

Giveaway at A Thrifty Mom

Go over to A Thrifty Mom and enter her contest for $560 in coupons. Many of you know I learn about many deals from her. I especially love the Albertson's match ups she does. Thanks, A Thrifty Mom!

Coupons.com Reset Today

Go here to print more coupons from Coupons.com. They reset today and there are some good ones. Grab this coupons for a BOGO Transformer Mini Vehicle. Some other coupons include the BIC $1/2 and lots of Cereal coupons. I heard there may be a sale on these again soon--as if we don't have enough cereal. But, hey, use your marshmallows from the recent great sale and make cereal bars for the kids.

Also, the Cinnabon coupon and the Special K Crackers coupons reset. They are on sale for $1.67 wyb 8 at Albertson's. Print each of these coupons twice on 2 computers. Now you have 8 coupons so the snacks are $1 each wyb 8 ($5.36 for 8). Double 3 of those coupons and they will only cost $2.36 for 8 boxes of snacks. Not too bad for a day's work.

Albertson's Meat Deal

Tonight, I stopped in at Albertson's to see if they had an item I was waiting for. They didn't. BUT. . . I found this great deal. An employee was standing at the front of the store handing out coupons and explaining this deal.

I bought 10 Kraft BBQ Sauce 10/$10
Received $5 off instantly
I had 5 $0.50 coupons
Paid $2.50 for 10 BBQ Sauces
Used 5 MC for $2 off meat wyb 2 BBQ Sauce (These were given to me by the employee)
I bought 4 Hormel Pork Loin & 1 4-pack Pork Chops, all in the "Always Tender" line of products
All five had $2 Manager's Special coupons attached
I also used 5 $1 coupons off Hormel "Always Tender" items.
Total paid: $2.50, plus tax

I paid $2.50 for $25 worth of Pork and 10 BBQ Sauces.

Now that's a Super Coupon Deal!

How Do I Get Started?

I've talked to a few friends lately about Couponing. I've done what I can to help you get started, but I'm no pro. One of the blogs I follow frequently (ok daily) is A Thrifty Mom. She recently had a question about getting started and determining how much to spend each week on groceries and how much to spend "stockpiling". Here is her response.

Camping Trip Meals

My brother and sister and I and our families are getting together next week to camp at Heise Hot Springs east of Idaho Falls next week. I did the shopping for the food for 15 and planned the menues around what was on sale for the last month.

The food pictured totals $57.75. This includes 8 meals for 6 adults and 9 children for 8 meals and 3 snacks everyday. I still need to buy the perishables this weekend. I was able to stay within our estimated budget of $30 per family. That's $10 per family per day for all food. Not bad, huh?

I'm sure if I'd been shopping with coupons and sales for longer than 3 months then I'd been able to spend far less. I'm satisfied.

Trident Coupon $1/2

Go here and print your coupon for $1/2 packages of Trident gum. Then, look for your favorite flavor to go on sale. Happy Chewing!
Thanks, A Thrifty Mom for this link.

Albertson's Doublers June 3 - 9

I went to Albertson's and used my doublers. Thanks to my friend, "B", who picked up 5 papers for me this morning I have 6 sets of doublers. Here's what I bought:

Transaction 1:
Kraft BBQ Sauce $1/.70
9 Jello Puddings $1/.70, -$1/3 MC here and here Doubled
=$1.24

Update: Cleaning the Bathroom with Don Aslett

Here's an update on my bathroom cleaning adventures. So, I'm getting better. I'm down to about 7 minutes per bathroom. Not bad. Keep in mind that the lady in the video didn't have to remove anything from the countertop, toys from the bathtub, or things off the floor, like a rug.

My time includes removing these things, cleaning, and replacing them.

Not bad to be able to clean 3 bathrooms in under 30 minutes, including gathering my rags, cleaning tote, and broom.

Give it a try and watch the video here.

Bath and Body Works: Free Lip Item with ANY purchase

While I was at Old Navy at the Mall, I decided to pay a quick visit to Bath & Body Works to use my coupon for a free lip item with ANY purchase. By the time I made it out of Old Navy, it was 8:55 pm. The ladies there weren't excited to see me when they were ready to close, especially with my coupon.

I picked out the "Liplicious" tasty lip color, $12 value, grabbed a purse hand sanitizer for $1.50 and made my way to the check out. Grab your coupon here and head to Bath and Body Works this weekend for your FREE lip item.

Thanks to Hip2Save for the link to this item.
***UPDATE: I'm glad I got this lip balm free. Today, I was using the scrub side, and it broke off at the base. The lipstick is a nice color and tastes good. I'm glad I didn't pay $12 for it, or I'd be taking it back.

Old Navy Clearance Sale and $75 off $100 Returns!

Wow! I thought I'd take my $10 off $50 purchase coupon in to Old Navy tonight and scour the Clearance rack, which is an additional 50% off.
Look what I scored! 20 items for $42.64, including tax. See the tan and navy skorts on the right--8 of them--I bought them for $0.38 each! I think I'll sell them on E-Bay and help defray the cost of this shopping spree. I'll update you with the outcome.
In case you don't know, Old Navy has a website to find some awesome coupons. Check out the website here.
They will be resetting a coupon for $75 off a $100 purchase on Sunday. Good luck and happy hunting.

LDS Church in Cambridge, MA, Burns Down

My sister-in-law's sister attended church in this building, until it burned down last sunday during meetings.

This story is not first-hand, but here is the story I got from my sister-in-law:

The fire broke out in the attic and quickly spread throughout the building. Everyone got out ok. They quickly grabbed pictures off the walls, hymnbooks, scriptures, etc., and were handing them down the line to get them out of the building when the fire first broke out. The Baptist church down the street came to help. Now that's the Christian Spirit!

This chapel is in Cambridge, Massachusettes, and many prominent LDS leaders have passed through this building since it was dedicated in 1951. I suppose that would include Kim Clark, President at BYUI, as well as other Apostles and leaders.

I suppose the videos were taken by attenders and bystanders using their cell phones.

Watch video here, here and here.

Pictures are here.

News stories here.

As Primary President, this has made me think, "What would our plan be if this happened in our building, that was also built in the 1950s."

My heart goes out to those who are affected by and are dealing with the loss at this time. God Bless You!

Cleaning the Bathroom

I hate cleaning my bathroom!!! I always have. It is the thing I detest the most. Anyone who knows me knows this, especially my extremely patient husband.

I decided to watch Don Aslett's movie on how to clean the bathroom in just 3 1/2 minutes. Could it be possible? Could I really have a clean bathroom in such little time?

So I watched here, gathered my supplies, including a timer, and gave it a try. That was Monday. Since I don't clean it very often, it took about 12 minutes for each bathroom. Then I cleaned on Saturday and it took just 7 minutes each.

My goal is to be able to clean each bathroom in just 5 minutes each. That way, including getting my supply bucket and rags I could have it all done in under 1/2 hour (I have 3 bathrooms).

If you want to join me and take on the challenge, watch How to Clean a Bathroom in 3 1/2 Minutes, gather your supplies, and give it a try. Let me know how you do. And good luck!

Getting Coupons in Southeast Idaho

So, I subscribed to the Idaho Falls Post Register a couple months ago. I receive the paper daily with 5 copies on Sunday. Great. I'll get the coupons available. Right?

Not exactly so. I quickly learned that the Red Plum and the Proctor & Gamble inserts aren't available in this paper. Why, I don't know. Supposedly they are aware and are working out a deal, or something like that. Doesn't matter why, but I don't get all the coupons I want to make all the great deals happen.

So, I've purchased the Blackfoot paper a couple times to get the additional inserts. Great. Now I'll get all the coupons. Right?

Not exactly so. It only had the Smart Source & Red Plum inserts. No Proctor & Gamble. I keep hearing about this BOGO for Kraft Easy Mac in the Parade Magazine last Sunday. So I pull out all 5 copies, turn to the page where it's supposed to be--no coupon. What's up? I flip through the Parade several times looking for it and start thinking I'm going crazy. No coupon. What's up with that?

So, today I was at a convenience store in Idaho Falls and noticed they carry the Idaho State Journal out of Pocatello. They have some copies of Sunday's paper, so I flip through the inserts and guess what I find? The Smart Source, Proctor & Gamble, AND Red Plum. So I decide to see if this paper has the Parade magazine. Sure enough, there it is. I flip to the page where the coupon is supposed to be and guess what I find! The BOGO I'm looking for.

So I bought 5!

So, lesson is: Not all papers are created equal. I guess I knew that. But I didn't expect the advertisements in the Parade to vary by newspaper publisher. I may be frequenting this store each week and am reconsidering my newspaper subscription.

Old El Paso Catalina Deal

I was looking through my Catalinas today to make certain that I don't let any expire. I have one that I thought was a $3 coupon off my next meat purchase Catalina, but it's actually information on a Catalina deal that runs through 5/17. Here are the details:

  • Save $1.00 on your next beef or chicken purchase when you buy any 3 pkgs Old El Paso taco shells, dinner kits, seasoning, refried beans or heat & serve side dishes.
  • Save $3.00 on your next beef or chicken purchase when you buy any 6 pkgs Old El Paso taco shells, dinner kits, seasoning, refried beans or heat & serve side dishes.
  • All items must be purchased in one shopping order. limited to product in stock. No cash back. Offer expires 5/17/2009.

I plan to do this between Friday & Sunday this weekend when their Ground Beef Patties are on sale 10 for $10. They also have other beef, chicken, and seafood items on sale the same dates. See their ad here for Idaho sale information.

I also received another $0.15 off my gas purchase. I love Albertsons!!!

Albertsons Run 05/06/09

Ok. The new Albertsons ad is out today. It doesn't appear that there is much I want to buy on this sale. Not much is FREE or under $1. I decided to go in and get the barbecue sauce, since it's free (I'll show you how), and for the Medicines.

Here's what I bought in 2 Transactions:

Transaction #1
10 Kraft Barbecue Sauce $1 each, -$0.75/1 SS MC 05/03, -$3 wyb 10
Visine Eye Drops $3.99, -$2 here
3 Neosporin Ointment $4.49, -$1/1 SS MC 2/08 (exp 5/31)
2 Tylenol Pain Relief $5.49, -$2/1 SS MC
1 Carefree Pantiliner $3, -$1.50/1 here
= $21.19, received $3 & $10 Catalinas off next purchase

Ok. Here's where it gets good.

I bought 10 BBQ sauce for $10, used 9 MC for $0.75/1 (total $3.25), received $3 off instantly for buying $10 Kraft (total $0.25 for 10), then received a $3 Catalina off my next purchase. This makes an overage of $2.75!

As for the Health Items, I will submit for reimbursement from my Flexible Spending Account for these items as listed on my receipt: $31.44. I'm not sure if they'll pay it all--they may only pay the $23.50 on the bottom of my receipt.

Either way, I received a $13 Catalinas and received all this for no out of pocket!

Transaction #2
2 Neosporin Ointment $4.49, -$2/1 SS MC
4 Tylenol Extra Strenth Pain Relief, -$1/1 coupon here
=$24.80

I will submit this for reimbursement, as well, and received a $10 Catalina of my next purchase.
Not too bad for a day's shopping when I thought there wasn't much I was interested in. I received $23 in catalinas, received lots of product, and basically paid nothing out of my shopping budget for it! My kind of shopping trip!

  • Do not send Assistance Vouchers, Food Stamps, or any other assistance items. Store coupons, those only good at the store named are useless on a military base overseas. Do not send restaurant coupons.
  • Use envelopes or baggies to separate them, not paper clips or rubber bands.
    Label them.
  • Add up the totals per bundle.
  • Send them to a participating base here.

I've adopted a Naval Base in Sicily. If you don't want to adopt one of your own, send me an email or talk to me and you can send them in with me. Coupons do need to be sorted by food and non-food items.

If you don't want all the work, why not grab some friends, or your Mom's group and adopt a base together. For more info check this out.

Thanks to Mummy Deals for this terrific tip!
